Minister St.Ange said this yesterday as he chaired the last management meeting for this year, which was held at the National Cultural Centre.

He said meeting the management team of the ministry is vital as it provides the chance to touch base on what has been achieved and to discuss and tackle pertinent issues.

“It is our ministry so we need to work together, we need to defend it so as to ensure that it remains a solid ministry,” Minister St.Ange said.

After going over the minutes of the previous management meeting, Minister St.Ange formally welcomed the new Chief Executive of the Seychelles Heritage Foundation, Miera Savy, and Patrick Nanty in his new position as Special Advisor to the Minister for cultural matters.

Among the topics discussed were the naming of the lobbies at the National Cultural Centre as well as the Conference Room which is today simply known as the Ex-Assembly Room. A new committee has been put together so as to take up this task. Also discussed was the drive for giving visibility to the works of the culture department, and financial assistance given to artists by the National Arts Council.

At this management meeting it was also announced that the National Cultural Centre will be closed from December 2-5, during the election period as the building is housing the Electoral Commission team.

Discussions also centered on the new schemes of service for certain branches of the Culture Department.

The Principal Secretary for Tourism, Anne Lafortune, gave an overview of the work done by the international expert who was in the country to meet trade in regards to the hotel classification which will be carried out soon.
