Hoteliers on the island of La Digue learn more on the use of solar energy from one of the Seychelles leading photovoltaic provider as tourism community talks more of the sustainable tourism approach (Forimmediaterelease.net) Hoteliers on the island of La Digue have learned more about the advantages of using solar energy at their establishments during a recent talk given by VetiverTech, one of the leading providers of solar photovoltaic in Seychelles.

The talk that was held recently at the La Digue community center was attended by the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, along with the Principal Secretary for Tourism, Anne Lafortune.

Addressing those present, Minister St.Ange said this it is important to keep La Digue as an eco-friendly island destination and to find ways to preserve this.

He added that this will help La Digue to keep its brand and charm that it has, adding that what Vetiver Tech is offering is a plus to the tourism industry of this island.

Vetiver Tech is a private company set up to market photovoltaic systems, and it is the sole distributor for SolarWorld based in Germany.

The head of the Vetirver Tech company, Radley Weber, gave a detailed presentation on how the solar photovoltaic system works, its advantages, and benefits.

During his presentation, Mr. Weber spoke on the Green Energy plan for La Digue. The aim of this plan is to make this charming island totally dependent on renewable energy in 10 to 15 years’ time.

This can be done as La Digue is hooked to the Praslin electricity grid, thus all photovoltaic systems on this island can be tied to the local grid.

The hoteliers who were present for the meeting showed great interest in this new way forward for their businesses and for the continued development of sustainable tourism on La Digue. Mr. Weber will now be visiting the island’s tourism trade for one-to-one meetings to discuss their individual needs.
