Anne Wallin Rødven receives ibtm world 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award

Anne Wallin Rødven receives ibtm world 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award ( Until September 2015, Anne Wallin Rødven was the Convention Director at VisitOSLO, the official marketing organization for Oslo and the surrounding regions. Rødven began her career in the Norwegian travel industry in 1975 and was appointed the Convention Director at VisitOSLO in 1990, where she would work for 25 years.

During her tenure at VisitOSLO, Rødven was responsible for setting up the Norway Convention Bureau in 2003 and establishing Oslo as a top city for international congresses, leading to the city being ranked 16th on the Union of International Association statistics in 2013. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to ICCA and the international meetings industry she received ICCA Congress’ highest honor, the Molses Shuster Award at the 51st ICCA Congress in 2012.

Rødven has served on the ICCA Board of Directors and the board of ECM (European Cities Marketing) where she also has been a lecturer at their “Summer School” for 16 years, acting as a mentor to young future leaders.

Rødven was recognized for her significant contribution to the meetings and events industry and was presented with the ibtm world 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meetings Leadership Summit which took place at the El Born Centre Cultural on Monday, November 16, 2015.

Presenting the award, Graeme Barnett, Reed Travel Exhibitions, Senior Exhibition Director commented, “As many of my female colleagues tell me, it is a rare celebration in this industry when we can see the proverbial glass ceiling being smashed. This award recognizes the huge impact of one woman who has devoted 25 years of her career to not only shattering that glass ceiling but to putting the City of Oslo at the heart of Norway’s meetings and conventions industry. “

Rødven commented on receiving the award, “It is a great honor for me to receive the prestigious ibtm world Lifetime Achievement Award, and looking at the previous recipients make me even more humble. My career in this wonderful meetings industry has been rewarding in itself and I leave it with many good memories and good friends. ibtm world has been an important part of my whole career, and has enabled me, on behalf of my beloved city Oslo, to have interesting encounters with colleagues, competitors and clients from all over the world. To meet face-to-face is more important than ever. Building trust and growing networks based on conversation and smiles adds tremendous value to a world where we increasingly communicate sitting behind screens, so targeted B2B tradeshows will continue to play an important role.”
