A museum of music showcasing on Reunion Island

A museum of music showcasing on Reunion Island ( Robert Ménard and François Fontlup are the two collectors at the center of an initiative to offer the general public and tourists access to this unique museum, where the different cultures present across the Indian Ocean and beyond see their musical instruments on display.

The collection of over 1,500 different instrument are of European origin, considering the past of this French Indian Ocean island, but are also from as far away as Indonesia, China, and India, and from Madagascar and the African continent, with many of them being quite unusual and many no longer found in use.

Visitors to the museum will experience a journey of musical discovery, visual and playful, sharing cultures in all its magnificent varieties.

The museum is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Groups should make prior reservations and will only be admitted between Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays.
