Hon. Jean Kapata MP speaks at UNWTO/ICAO High Level Forum: Tourism and Air Transport Development (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Minister of Tourism and Arts, Hon. Jean Kapata MP, spoke yesterday at the UNWTO/ICAO High Level Forum under the theme “Tourism and Air Transport Development” being held on the sidelines of the on-going UNWTO 21st Session General Assembly in Medellin, Colombia. The Hon. Minister will also co-chair the 1st Plenary Session of the General Assembly with her counter-part, Mr. Walter Mzembi of Zimbabwe, both in their capacities as Co-chairs of the 20th Session General Assembly. They will then hand over the Chairship to Colombia.

This has been confirmed by His Excellency, Ambassador Humphrey Chilu Chibanda, Zambia’s Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to the UNWTO. Ambassador Chibanda also said the Minister was one of the selected speakers who gave a speech at the official opening dinner and welcome ceremony of the UNWTO 21st Session General Assembly that was held last evening from 2000-2230 hours at Coliseo Cubierto Ivan de Bedout.

The Hon. Minister spoke in her capacity as Co-chair of the 20th Session General Assembly and as an honor since Colombia won the bid to host the 21st Session General Assembly on Zambian soil in August 2013. The Ambassador said others that spoke last night at the official dinner and welcome ceremony included His Worship the Mayor of Medellin Mr. Anibal Gaviria Correa; Her Excellency Mrs. Cecilia Alvarez-Correa, Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism of Colombia; His Excellency Mr. Wykeham McNeill, Minister of Tourism and Entertainment of Jamaica; and Chairman of UNWTO Executive Council and His Excellency Dr. Taleb Rifai, UNWTO Secretary General.

The official dinner and welcome ceremony were streamed live by the UNWTO from at 2000-2230 hours Colombian local time.
