Reunion Island celebrates her natural beauty as UNESCO World Heritage site turns 5

Reunion Island celebrates her natural beauty as UNESCO World Heritage site turns 5 ( It is five years this week that UNESCO recognized the rugged magnificence of Reunion Island’s interior and enscribed the area, a national park under French law, as a site of exceptional natural beauty and a biodiversity hotspot, one of less than two dozen around the world.

On September 20, a permanent exhibition will open on Reunion Island to showcase, loosely translated, “Reunion – Nature in Harmony with Mankind.”

The exhibition will offer nothing short of a virtual journey across the island, showing off the mountains, valleys, gorges, lakes, and waterfalls rushing down rock faces at times several thousand feet high.

Turned into an interactive exhibition, visitors to the exhibition will enjoy 3D sights, apart from the more conventional multimedia and DVD shows, and pictures taken by some of Reunion Island’s finest photographers.

The exhibition will be open on Monday to Saturday from 830 am until 1230 pm and again from 1:30 pm until 5:00 pm; it is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

The location of the exhibition was given as National Park House, 258, rue de la Republique, 97431 La Plaine-des-Palmistes. Find more destination information about Reunion Island via
