Sweden’s King Gustaf and other world leaders to grace Scouts Jamboree in Uganda ( The scouts of Uganda are set to for the largest gathering of the scouts movement in Uganda. From August 18-28, the government of Uganda together with the Uganda Scouts Association is hosting the International Scouts Centenary Jamboree

The Jamboree, which is expected to bring together about 15,000 participants from 163 nations, will be hosted at the Kaazi National Scouts Campsite on the shores of Lake Victoria. The World Organization of the Scout Movement with over 40 million members, began activities in Uganda in 1915.

Last year, President Yoweri Museveni, Patron of Uganda Scouts Association, officially invited scouts from all over the world to Uganda for the International Scouts Centenary Jamboree. The centenary celebrations are being held under the theme: “Youth involvement in promoting sustainable peace and development.”

As is the tradition at International Scout Jamborees, HE President Yoweri Museveni as Patron of Uganda Scouts Association invites all the 163 Heads of State and Government who are Patrons of the Scout Associations in the member countries of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Among the guests expected is King Carl Gustaf of Sweden the honorary chairman of the World Scouts Association.

The International Scouts Centenary Jamboree will be the biggest youth event ever held in Uganda, both for the number of youth in attendance and the number of participating countries.

Alongside the Centenary Jamboree the scouts will hold the 7th Africa Scout Youth Forum and the Africa Scout Conference from August 24-27, 2015 at Ggaba Major Seminary and Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo, respectively.

The Africa Scout Youth Forum provides an opportunity for young people to share experiences, living and learning together for development.
