Green Globe congratulates Movenpick Resort Al Nawras on its recent re-certification and on its achievement of attaining a magnificent compliance score of 92% against accredited criteria.

We are very proud to have received Green Globe certification for five consecutive years, culminating in gaining number one ranked Green Globe certified Movenpick hotel and resort in the Middle East for 2014.
“This certificate is part of a total hotel approach, supporting our commitment to apply “best” practice in all areas of our sustainable hotel operations, such as water and energy conservation, land use and solid waste management.”
The property uses the Hotel Optimizer management system designed by Green Globe’s preferred Middle East Partner FARNEK to record and monitor all energy and water consumption as well as benchmark waste quantities. Energy reduction strategies include the installation of motion sensors in back of house areas, implementation of photocells for outdoor lighting and in parking lots, and the utilization of energy efficient appliances and equipment in guest rooms and laundries.
Growing native vegetation species and using treated grey water for irrigation are part of the water saving initiatives deployed at the resort. In addition, environmentally friendly service providers and sustainable suppliers are preferred at the property to reduce its impact on the seaside surroundings.
Movenpick Resort Al Nawras Jeddah is totally committed to supporting sustainable projects and putting ideas into practices. The resort educates employees to develop a greater understanding and awareness of key environmental issues. A Sustainability brochure is produced annually, which highlights actions undertaken for energy and water savings, waste reduction and staff engagement in community activities. As part of its social initiatives the resort sponsors activities and accommodation for the Disabled Children Association (D.C.A) of Jeddah, donates food during Ramadan to people in need in the Saudi community and staff participate in the Clean Up As You Go beach cleanup.
