Hospitality management students from the Seychelles Tourism Academy on work attachment in Mauritius

Hospitality management students from the Seychelles Tourism Academy on work attachment in Mauritius ( A group of 15 students from the Seychelles Tourism Academy who are following the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management course left the country for a three-month work attachment at the Constance Belle Mare Plage Resort in Mauritius.

This is the sixth batch of advanced diploma students in hospitality management studies.

Prior to their departure to Mauritius, the students, accompanied by their parents, met the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, at the academy.

They were presented with their airline tickets, stipend, and traveling documents by Minister St.Ange in the presence of Sherin Naiken, the Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board; Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism; and the Principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy, Flavien Joubert; and other management staff.

Addressing those present, Minister St.Ange said tourism remains the pillar of Seychelles’ economy.

“For it to remain the pillar, we need more Seychellois professionals to keep moving it forward,” he said.

“There is a need to get more Seychellois to join the tourism industry and make it work. We need you to come back and be good ambassadors for the tourism industry.”

Minister St.Ange also echoed words of thanks to the Constance group for this great partnership.

To the students, he urged them to be themselves and to always remember that they are representing Seychelles.

Mrs. Geraghty, representing Shannon College at the tourism academy, said this is the official start of the year-two placement for these students.

She called on them to put into practice what they have learned, adding that it will be challenging but at the same time it will be a learning experience.

The 15 hospitality management students will be back in Seychelles in September 2015.
