Seychelles Tourism Board scoops Indian Ocean’s leading tourist board award

Seychelles Tourism Board scoops Indian Ocean’s leading tourist board award (Forimmediaterelease.net) The Seychelles Tourism Board under the leadership of its Chief Executive, Sherin Naiken, has tasted success at one of the world’s most prestigious award ceremonies, the World Travel Awards.

Winning the award for Indian Ocean’s leading tourist board at the 22nd World Travel Awards - Africa and Indian Ocean gala ceremony, the Seychelles Tourism Board has described it as a great feat.

Seychelles had the honor to stage such a prestigious world award ceremony on its soil this weekend. The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to recognize and reward travel and tourism industries across the globe and celebrate their excellence.

The 22nd World Travel Awards - Africa and Indian Ocean gala ceremony - was held at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort on Saturday.

Attending the event were the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport Joel Morgan; President and founder of the World Travel Awards Graham Cooke; and many other guests.

Miss Naiken received the award with much pride from the stunning “Miss Seychelles…another world" 2012.

This achievement comes at a fitting time this year as the Seychelles Tourism Board celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier in April.

Miss Naiken has described the award that the Seychelles Tourism Board has received as a source of encouragement.

“The award is proof of the hard work that our offices have been doing and that we are on the right path on promoting our destination,” she said.

“We will work harder to maintain our image and to retain our title," she added.

Aside from this award, Seychelles has scooped other awards such as the leading destination in the Indian Ocean, while the national airline Air Seychelles won the leading airline, airline business class and cabin crew for the Indian Ocean.
Several tourism establishments in Seychelles also clinched awards during the ceremony. Seychelles’ success also came from the awards of leading cruise ship destination in the Indian Ocean, while Port Victoria excelled as the leading cruise port.
