Agoda announces partnership with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts

Agoda announces partnership with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts ( BANGKOK, July 14, 2008 - Agoda Company, an online travel company specializing in hotel discount reservations in Asia, has announced an arrangement with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts to distribute their luxury properties via Agoda's websites.

The well-established, Asian-based, 5-Star group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, has 52 luxury properties in Asia and the Middle East with expansion projects currently underway in Europe in North America.

According to Wilfred Fan, Agoda's vice president, Business Development, Shangri La will utilize's extranet–based inventory management system so that Agoda's customers will be able to access last-minute availability at favorable rates, which change frequently depending on seasonality and market trends.

"Agoda’s expanding market share in Asia, as well as our increasing role in the Chinese marketplace, was a perfect match for Shangri-La’s growing portfolio in China. Shangri-La is able to use our superior Yield Control System to manage rates and availability with better control and improved yield and we (Agoda) are able to offer our customers one of the most respected 5-star brands in Asia,” said Fan.

Agoda Company markets hotels in Asia through and local market-branded Agoda websites in twenty languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and many other European languages, supported by an award winning, multilingual, customer service team which operates 24 hours/day, 365 days/year.
“Our current expansion plans in Asia required a partner that could bring a respected brand name, strong technological support and a dedicated, loyal clientele base. Clearly, Agoda was the obvious choice,” said Agnes Battad, Shangri-La’s director of Corporate Reservations and Distribution.

Both Agoda and Shangri-La expect a long and successful partnership catering to the online market, which is increasingly driven by last-minute impulse purchases. “Agoda is now able to provide last-minute, instant confirmations to our customers for all Shangri-La properties. With the Olympics approaching in Beijing, new properties expected to open in Macau, Shanghai, and Shenzen, and interest in travel throughout China and Southeast Asia increasing, the partnership with Shangri-La has huge potential. We couldn’t be more pleased,” Fan added.
