Seychellois hospitality professionals who graduated from Shannon College set up new association ( Seychellois hospitality professionals who graduated from the Shannon College in Ireland have formed their own association and have now officially launched it.

The Shannon College Seychelles Alumni which will become a network of hospitality professionals, all connected through their hospitality education at the Seychelles Tourism Academy and Shannon College of Ireland.

The launch of this alumni chapter was held at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay in the presence of the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, principal of the Seychelles Tourism Academy Flavien Joubert, registrar of the Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland Kate O’Connell and other representatives.

Graduates from the Shannon College as well as lecturers and the senior management of the Seychelles Tourism Academy were also present at the event.

The Shannon College Seychelles Alumni is set to help these graduates to keep a closer contact with each other. Through its committee, it will cater for a number of social and networking events, publish newsletters and also provide a forum for graduates to build new friendships and business relationships with people of a similar background.

Shannon College of Hotel Management, is a recognized college of the National University of Ireland, and has an extensive network of graduates worldwide.

The Shannon College Alumni Association is represented in over 20 countries with active Alumni chapters in Ireland, London, Scotland, New York, Washington and Dubai. Its motto is “Keep The Contact!” and events are held worldwide each year to encourage class reunions and keep the spirit of the Shannon family alive.

Most of the alumni located in the Seychelles also graduated from STA with an Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (ADHM).

Addressing those present, Miss O’Connell told the alumni to take on this new responsibility, demonstrate leadership, inspire the youths so that they can also develop a passion for the hospitality industry.

She called on them to place Seychelles’ hotel industry as a leading example of best practice and a key destination where hotels are managed by Seychellois people.

Minister St.Ange expressed his gratitude to Shannon College for setting up this alumni chapter for the Seychellois hospitality graduates and for future ones.

Congratulating the graduates from the Shannon College of Hotel Management for being a united group, he urged them to take all the chances presented to them to progress in their careers.

“Working in the industry is not as easy as it looks but through hard work and devotion, and by unlocking your potentials, you will be able to take over the tourism industry in the future,” Minister St.Ange said.
