Reunion Island celebrating its Grand Boucan!

Reunion Island celebrating its Grand Boucan! ( Grand Boucan is the event of the year on Reunion Island. The 19th edition of this multicultural event will be held Sunday, June 14, in the streets of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, made pedestrian for the occasion, where the colors of the sparkly costumes will compete with those of tanks! With a parade under the banner of love, Cupid could uncheck you with one of his fiery darts.

The seaside resort of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains will vibrate as quick-time fleets of the great carnival of Reunion Island take to the streets, and visitors are invited to dress up and dance to celebrate in the joy and good mood of King Dodo.

For several months, the South Pole company is preparing for this major event to be held on June 14, when tanks and costumes will no longer require a few adjustments until they are released.

It is an event to appreciate with one’s head in the clouds and feet in the sand!

This 19th edition will take place in the streets of General de Gaulle in Saint-Gilles-les-Bains on the Esplanade des Roches Noires, from 14.15. A dozen tanks and twenty associations will take part in the parade with, as head of the procession, the ephemeral King Dodo. This year it will rise to almost nine meters high, from where he will rule his subjects. At 6:30 pm, King Dodo will head to the beach where it will be burned at Breakers, as usual, at around 8:00 pm. A fireworks display will follow as well as musical entertainment outdoors at 10:30 pm.
