Air China announces emergency procedures following Sichuan earthquake ( At 2:28pm on May 12, 2008, Wenchuan in Sichuan Province was hit by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake. At 3:00pm Air China launched emergency procedures:

• Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in Sichuan Province has been closed and all 12 Air China flights to Chengdu have now safely landed in other domestic airports nearby. Air China is currently not running flights to Chengdu until the Airport reopens. • Air China has entered all related departments into a state of emergency, and any customers who have been stranded by the earthquake are currently being rerouted by Air China .
• All other Air China flights are running as normal and a fleet is on standby in case of emergency.
• At present, all Air China flights are in continuous contact with our communications center to ensure the safety of its passengers.
