Dr. Rick Rosen a Connecticut Plastic Surgeon Discusses Teenage Rhinoplasty Surgery
For many the nose is a major center of insecurity. The nose, which is situated right in the center of ones face, is one of the first things someone notices when they interact with you. For most rhinoplasty patients the nose may have asymmetry issues, large humps or just large in general. As we move toward the end of another school year many teenagers start to seek rhinoplasty surgery.
Dr. Rosen recommends seeking out a plastic surgeon that specializes in this procedure. Dr. Rosen says patients should be aware of the complications and the healing time a rhinoplasty takes. Rarely will you have complications with a rhinoplasty when you have the surgery performed by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon that specializes in facial procedures. Dr. Rosen said one can expect to have bruising, swelling, discomfort which can be addressed with medications. The typical rhinoplasty does take time to heal, the nose will continue to heal over the course of a year, this is when you will see the final result as you will have minor swelling for months.
Dr. Rosen says this time of year he starts to have many more consults with teenagers. Dr. Rosen says, “it’s important for teenagers to understand that a rhinoplasty takes time to heal and they need to understand this as they head into their summer activities.” Dr. Rosen says make sure to discuss the healing process with your surgeon as each surgeon employ different techniques requiring different healing times.
Every surgeon is different and has their own protocols for the rhinoplasty procedure. When searching for a Plastic Surgeon find one that specializes in facial procedures and can demonstrate their work. Rhinoplasty is much more technical than other cosmetic procedures, so don’t price shop, find a surgeon with years of experience you will be much happier in the end.
