Seychelles private sector trade capitalizing on carnival fever

Seychelles private sector trade capitalizing on carnival fever ( Robert Payet not only owns, but personally also manages a successful hotel on Praslin called “Le Duc de Praslin.”

Even though the property is listed as being part of the “home grown” small Seychellois-owned properties, Robert Payet has been an active player in the sales and marketing initiatives organized by the Seychelles Tourism Board. Only two weeks ago, he was participating alongside Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, on what was called a roadshow on Reunion Island organized for the tourism trade of Seychelles to meet that island's tour operators and their respective agents.

But Robert Payet is a hotelier who does not just sit and wait for others to do everything for him. The coming carnival in Seychelles has spurred Robert Payet to move and not only join the carnival fever, but to see how to attract the attention of the visiting travel agents who are in Seychelles to walk in the carnival parade to represent their tour operators in Europe and also the large bank of international press. He is organizing something for the carnival on Praslin Island at his Le Duc New Lounge and bringig the carnival fever on Praslin as well.

The initiative of Robert Payet has been well received by the Seychelles Tourism Board and by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture who said that Robert Payet is an example. “He is running a very successful hotel, but still he is working to capitalize of the carnival by staging something that will attract the attention of the visiting travel agents and the press. It is so important for our trade at large to always remember that we are all in the media business first, then you work at the business you are in. This is immaterial of what you do for a living," said Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, when the Robert Payet initiative was being discussed.

“Every hotelier, large or small, needs the attention of our travelers and would-be travelers. Seychelles is staging its biggest cultural event that attracts the largest bank of international press to its shores and not working to get the attention of the press who are in Seychelles cannot and should never be missed," the Minister said in ending.
