Novel Fetal Welfare Monitoring Device to be Showcased at Medical World Americas 2015

( Noninvasix, a TMCx accelerator company, will preview optoacoustic technology during Pitch event
Houston-based medical device startup Noninvasix, Inc., a member of Texas Medical Center’s TMCx inaugural accelerator class, will pitch its reliable solution for detecting cerebral brain oxygenation levels in babies during late-stage labor at Medical World Americas (MWA) Wednesday, April 29 at 12:30 p.m. the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston.

TMCx Pitch will offer MWA’s global gathering of medical experts, researchers and clinical experts a first look at the 22 startup companies accepted into the six-month accelerator program, which provides a gateway to the facilities, resources and network of the world’s largest medical center.

Presenting on behalf of Noninvasix is CEO Graham Randall, Ph.D who said, “From moms to obstetricians and hospitals around the world, all stakeholders involved are aligned in wanting better outcomes for babies during labor and delivery, and that’s what we’re offering. We look forward to showcasing our disruptive technology to a global audience.”

In collaboration with obstetricians at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Noninvasix’s team of scientists and engineers are developing a small fetal probe that uses pulsed laser light to produce an acoustic wave response, which accurately measures the baby’s brain oxygenation levels. In addition to the reduced incidence of unnecessary cesarean sections, this first-in-class optoacoustic monitoring technology is expected to reduce the risk of severe neonatal morbidity including cerebral palsy.

Following three-minute pitches from each of the innovative companies, a panel of judges will present a $1,000 cash prize to the top two highest-rated presentations.

Now in its second year, Medical World Americas is a collaboration between the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Germany-based Messe Duesseldorf, the Texas Medical Center and Houston First Corp. More information is available at

Noninvasix has also been accepted to present its fetal monitoring system May 20, 2015 at the Texas Life Science Forum hosted by Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, BioHouston and the Texas Healthcare&Bioscience Institute.

Using patented optoacoustic technology, Galveston, Texas-based Noninvasix, Inc. has developed a solution for the safe, accurate and non-invasive monitoring of fetal welfare during labor and delivery. Noninvasix is undertaking to significantly improve outcomes for mother and baby during labor, while reducing malpractice lawsuits and premiums, is backed by 15 years of optoacoustic research and more than $6.5 million in research grants.
