Green Globe recently re-certified Mövenpick Hotel Ankara where management and staff have continued to improve their sustainability performance.

One of the hotel’s advantages is its design, which allows ample natural lighting in all guest rooms and the Bern Ballroom’s conference and function facilities. To further reduce energy consumption, the hotel routinely monitors electricity usage and has implemented a number of energy saving measures including the installation of motion sensors and LED lighting. Paper towel machines have also been connected to the main electricity supply instead of batteries.
As part of its sustainable management plan Mövenpick Hotel Ankara supports the use of recycled pens, wooden room cards, ecological bath products as well as using guest room amenities and collaterals that are made of recycled products. To reduce its carbon footprint Green Cards are placed in guest rooms promoting the reuse of sheets and blankets.
The hotel prefers bulk purchasing in place of individually packaged items and waste management initiatives at the hotel include the introduction of specially designated boxes for the collection of used batteries. In addition, oil waste is sent to an intermediary firm to produce bio diesel fuel.
Mövenpick Hotel Ankara ensures its green strategy is communicated to all staff by conducting regular training for effective resource management. Hotel staff also support various local organizations in the region, participate in community projects and conduct regular fundraising activities with proceeds donated to charitable groups. Furthermore, to support regional economic development the hotel kitchens purchase seasonal organic and local produce as well as Mövenpick Fair Trade coffee.
