Tourism meeting in Madrid - WTTC & UNWTO delegates breakfast with Stephen Sackur of BBC at the Ritz Madrid (Forimmediaterelease.net) The BBC World Tourism Ministers Breakfast with Stephen Sackur that was held on April 15 analyzed the question of disruptions for the tourism industry. Stephen Sackur, the host of the BBC Hard Talk program, spoke at the breakfast, as delegates presented their respective countries’ key USPs and on what they say was today considered as disruptive acts or developments for their tourism industry.

The ministers and tourism leaders are this week gathered in Madrid for the 15th WTTC (World Tourism&Travel Council) Global Summit. The support by the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) for this Global Summit is seen as the continued development of a public/private sector partnership with the UNWTO representing governments and the WTTC, the private sector. Government ministers present have all echoed the importance for such a spirit of togetherness.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, said after the BBC World Ministers Breakfast that such gatherings were always important, because opportunities to exchange ideas based on successes or challenges helps in planning for the way forward. “Listening to others and reflecting on one's own challenges and successes remains an important exercise. A well-informed leader is always a good leader," said the Seychelles Minister St.Ange.

The Seychelles Minister also said that these gatherings always helped him to raise the visibility of his islands and ensure that they remain relevant at all time in the world of tourism.
