IAAF World Relays prepared for successful May launch in The Bahamas

IAAF World Relays prepared for successful May launch in The Bahamas (Forimmediaterelease.net) NASSAU, Bahamas – It is about to get faster in The Bahamas, when the IAFF World Relays will take place on May 2 and 3, 2015 in Nassau, Bahamas. The IAAF World Relays is an international biennial track and field sporting event organized by the governing body for track and field athletics (IAAF), where teams from around the world will compete in relay races. The 2-day feat of athleticism will be held at the state-of-the-art Thomas A. Robinson Stadium, with a capacity of 15,000, drawing the top athletes and sporting fans from around the world. More than 1,000 athletes and coaches from 50 countries are expected to attend, including most of the sprint and middle distance medalists from the 2012 Olympics and 2014 IAAF World Championships. Including the Reigning World 100 meters Bronze medalist, and sixth fastest man of all time, Nesta Carter from Jamaica who is targeting his second participation.

This will be the second consecutive year The Bahamas will host the IAAF World Relays, and is once again the biggest sporting event to the held in The Bahamas. The competition will be fierce as the Relays will serve as a qualifying competition for the 2015 IAAF World Relays in Beijing, and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The following relay races will held: 4 x 100m, 4 x 200m, 4 x 400m, 4 x 800m, and a Distance Medley with qualifying rounds for the 4 x 100m, 4 x 200m and 4 x 400m (men and women).

Track and Field is a proud and integral sport to The Islands Of the Bahamas, with a long-storied history of producing many famous athletes in this sport,” said the Director of Sports Tourism, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Greg Rolle. Further explaining, “To be chosen by the IAAF to welcome these athletes and fans, and be the home for such an integral event in the path towards the Olympics; recognizing our history in Track and Field sports is an incredibly proud honor for us. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone with traditional Bahamian warmth and hospitality, and a successful World Relay!”
