Jaarwis Accelerator from Hong Kong meets Chandigarh startups
Kuldeep Bhayana, Managing Director, Jaarwis Accelerator, headquartered in Hong Kong was surprised to see the startup movement shaping in northern India thanks to the efforts of Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC).
He sat through six hours till past midnight to patiently listen to the pitches from 10 startups which ranged from aerospace, to mobile app developments, crowd sourcing to hospitality integrator, and online retailers.
In the last one year since its inception, SACC had been nurturing the startups in the region with the mission to create Chandigarh as the startup hub of India, said Manipal Dhariwal, President of SACC India.
SACC tied up with US based UP Global to build a strong community of startups in the region through series of boot camps and the signature event for entrepreneurs, Startup Weekend.
Through each such activity SACC had been able to identify at least 10 best business ideas which are being mentored regularly and extended complete help including a co-working space in its newly established incubator, Startup in a Box in Mohali.
Kuldip Bhayana promised to back again to interact with more startups and shortlisted four for the next round of discussions at Jaarwis India's office in Gurgaon, and offering to accelerate them for a period of next four months. He was sure that post-acceleration these startups have a fair chance of getting funded.
SACC on the other hand is accelerating its own operation with another feather in its cap in the form of SACC University, which it has developed as one-stop mentoring and education portal for all those who wish to setup their own enterprise. SACC University is building up strong knowledge base on diverse aspects of setting up a successful business venture.
