Morocco Prime Minister and Seychelles Minister meet in Rabat

Morocco Prime Minister and Seychelles Minister meet in Rabat ( Mr. Abdelilah Benkirane, the Head of Government of Morocco, met with Mr. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, in Rabat on the occasion of The Atlantic Initiative for Tourism 2015 Conference.

The Prime Minister of Morocco who was present at the conference to show his government's commitment for the continued development of tourism in Morocco and in the region, welcomed Minister St.Ange to Morocco. The Seychelles Minister had been invited to participate as a panelist in the “Culture as a factor for tourism development and bringing people together" session. Seychelles is one of the few countries where tourism and culture have been amalgamated into one government ministry, and the Seychelles experience is today being sought after as the world now embraces this tourism through culture concept more than ever before.

Only a month ago, the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) jointly organized a conference on that very same theme in Cambodia, and the Seychelles Minister St.Ange, accompanied by his PS for Culture Benjamine Rose, spoke to the Community of Nations about the Seychelles experience in the placing of culture at the center of the tourism development in Seychelles. “When we speak about culture we are in fact talking about our people," Minister St.Ange said in Cambodia when he added that culture was the only unique selling point a country had that carried one's very own DNA.

Minister St.Ange and his PS for Culture Benjamine Rose explained in Cambodia that even though Seychelles is renowned to have the best for a sun, sea, and sand holiday, they were realistic that the discerning traveler of today wanted more, and one's culture is now the unique selling point (USP) everyone is placing at the center of one's development.

“We have no right to be ashamed of our culture, because that would mean that we are ashamed of our own people," the Seychelles Minister said.

Minister St.Ange is in Morocco at the invitation of Minister Lahcen Haddad, the Morocco Minister of Tourism, and of Mr. Taleb Rifai, the UNWTO Secretary General.
