One Man’s Incredible Struggle Against Depression Will Bring Hope To Others

( On average 1-in-6 people will experience depression once in their lives. A shocking 1-in-4 will have anxiety. Kiall Rowberry is one of them. A year ago he stood up against this illness and began to fight against for his mental health through running. It has helped him improve tremendously in his physical and mental wellbeing. Now Rowberry wants to create a documentary, “Running the Dog,” to show the study of how others can properly use exercise to alleviate the symptoms of depression and anxiety. He has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help him complete the project. The goal is to raise $15,000 AUD by March 26th, 2015.

The documentary will follow Kiall Rowberry, who is a thirty-five year old married father of two great boys, as he uses running to effectively manage his mental health. He will show day-to-day practices to show what methods work best to improve his mood. During filming, Rowberry will also be training to run his first marathon. Audiences will embark on an epic journey to see what it is like to battle this horrible mental illness from destroying his life.

“Since high school I’ve been in a constant battle against depression and anxiety. I have even been suicidal at times,” said Kiall Rowberry, the creator of the film and main subject in the documentary. “I have let it hold me back from too many things and it’s time to stop letting fear an doubt dictate my life. I hope it can assist other people fighting this mental illness to look into exercise as a part of their mental health management.”

The film will address a growing issue that is impacting many all around the world. Those with depression are constantly fighting to improve their life. It is a struggle for their family and friends as well. “Running the Dog” will give people hope and valuable support for those who are going through the same thing. It will urge people to keep pushing to take their life back and know there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
