Seychelles gets ready to host Carnaval International de Victoria 2015 on April 24 ( Six years ago it was only a dream, one which many joined forces to make it a reality a year later in 2011 when Seychelles welcomed on its shores the first Carnaval International de Victoria. Now only 74 more days to go before Seychelles blows the candle to the celebrate Carnaval International de Victoria in its fifth year. From April 24-26, Seychelles will gather people from around the globe in the heart of its capital, Victoria, for the 2015 Carnaval International de Victoria, which has been dubbed as the “Carnival of Carnivals.”

The countdown of the 2015 Carnaval International de Victoria was launched on Saturday during a ceremony at the Tequila Boon nightclub Bel Ombre. Principal Secretary for Tourism Anne Lafortune, Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Sherin Naiken, sponsors, and other partners were all present for this auspicious occasion.

Artists who took part in this year's carnival song competition launched by the STB were also present, and the grand winner was announced and presented with prizes. Trassy Carolla, better known as Telsy, won the first prize prize with her song Karnaval dan Victoria, followed by Paul Reginald (Regi) and Marcus Mondon with a song entitled Karnaval dan Sesel, while the song Nou dan Karnaval made Jean-Paul Cadeau the third place winner.

Those who were present at the launch had the chance to hear the 2015 carnival song, Karnaval dan Victoria, for the first time.

Speaking at the launch, Miss Naiken thanked the faithful sponsors of the carnival and has urged others to join in this venture.

She said this year's carnival will be celebrated by reviving the first one, by reliving the dream of bringing together many cultures.

Miss Naiken added that the carnival has already established itself as being a big rendezvous for all the different carnivals and cultures from around the globe.

Seychelles will continue to use its carnival to send the message of peace between nations, she added.

Artists who took part in the song competition received certificates and were given a token of appreciation from the Seychelles Tourism Board.

At the end of the ceremony, Mrs. Lafortune and Miss Naiken cut a special cake to mark the fifth anniversary of Carnaval International de Victoria, an event which makes the Seychellois nation stand with pride.
