Swaziland & Seychelles ministers discuss cooperation in field of tourism and culture ( Minister David Ngcamphalala, the Swaziland Minister responsible for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, and Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, are continuing their meetings to pave the way for closer cooperation between their two countries.

Minister Ngcamphalala of Swaziland and Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles were being accompanied by Phinda Nkosi, the Swaziland Director of Arts and Culture, and Benjamine Rose, the Seychelles PS for Culture, for the series of Swaziland/Seychelles meetings held on the sidelines of the UNWTO/UNESCO (UN World Tourism Organization/UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Conference on Tourism and Culture in Cambodia.

Among the different topics covered was the participation of Swaziland at the April Carnival of Carnivals that is held annually in Seychelles at the end of April. Minister St.Ange and PS Benjamine Rose explained to their Swaziland counterparts the importance for Swaziland to be seen and counted as part of the countries from the Community of Nations who will be showcasing their culture in this coming edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria, the carnival that has now been labeled the Carnival of Carnivals because it remains the only carnival where all the best and most popular carnivals parade side by side followed by cultural troupes from the Community of Nations.

“No country has the right to be shy of its culture, because this remains the only unique asset that carries the DNA of our respective countries," Minister Alain St.Ange told his Swaziland counterpart.

Exchanges in the field of sports and culture were also tabbed by both sides and discussed. PS Benjamine Rose, the Seychelles PS for Culture, said that her discussions with Phinda Nkosi looked in greater details at the cultural exchange programs that are possible as well as the participation of Swaziland in the April 24-26 Carnival in Seychelles.

A follow-up meeting is expected to take place in mid-February when the Seychelles Minister St.Ange is expected to be in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the IIPT World Conference marking the lives of Martin Luther-King, Mahatma Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela. The Seychelles Minister is expected to meet HE the King of Swaziland as well as Swaziland's Minister of Tourism and that of Culture.
