Oakbrook Center Announces Their Signature Events Line Up for 2008 (Forimmediaterelease.net) For more than 40 years, Oakbrook Center has had the tradition of hosting some of the most anticipated yearly events in DuPage County, and this year is no exception. The Center kicks off the 2008 event season with the 40th Annual Father’s Day Classic Car Show, June 15, 2008. Following events include the 45th Invitational Fine Craft Exhibition, July 12 – 13, 2008, the 6th Annual Landscape and Garden Show, August 2 – 10, 2008, the 46th Invitational Fine Art Exhibition, August 30 – 31, 2008, and our latest addition the 2nd Annual Christkindlmarket Oakbrook, November 1 – 16, 2008. Each event will take place within the beautiful park-like atmosphere of Oakbrook Center.

The 40th Annual Father’s Day Classic Car Show, June 15, 2008, is presented by the Greater Illinois Region of the Classic Car Club of America (GIRCCCA), in partnership with Oakbrook Center, and is a Father’s Day tradition for many families to spend the day admiring more than 90 classic cars showcased throughout the center. The classic vehicles on display range from early 1920 Model T’s, to vintage Corvette’s, to a 1940’s wood paneled station wagon. Admission is free and vehicles will be on display from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday only.

Oakbrook Center will host the 45th Invitational Fine Craft Exhibition on July 12 and 13, 2008. Featuring over 100 of the country’s finest crafters displaying their works in metal, ceramics, fiber, wood, glass, jewelry, leather, and mixed media during the two-day show. Last year, over 135,000 people attended the show. Admission is free and artwork will be on display for purchase from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12 and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p. m. on Sunday, July 13.

Oakbrook Center showcases the 6th Annual Landscape and Garden Show, August 2 - 10, 2008. After five years of blooming this signature addition, the show features more than 10 landscape and garden companies from the Chicagoland area to Oakbrook Center displaying beautiful gardens with water ponds, outdoor fireplaces, and exotic plants. Visitors to the show will be able to speak to company representatives, purchase items, and get ideas for their own yards. Admission is free and garden displays are available for viewing Monday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The 46th Invitational Fine Art Exhibition takes place over Labor Day weekend, August 30 and 31, 2008. More than 170 artists will display their works in watercolors, pastels, acrylics, photography, oil, pottery, sculptures and mixed media throughout the center’s grounds. Last year’s show brought more than 162,000 visitors to the center. Admission is free and artwork will be on display for purchase from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31 and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31.

The newest addition to our signature events line-up is the Christkindlmarket Oakbrook, November 1 – 16, 2008. This pre-Christmas market, dating back to 16th-century Germany, will feature red and white crested huts with vendors selling traditional German crafts, a beverage garden offering traditional food and drinks, and a variety of German entertainment to take place throughout the length of the market. Admission is free and visitors are welcome Monday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
