Koepf Tapped to Become NACTA President

Koepf Tapped to Become NACTA President ( ASTA is pleased to announce Scott Koepf, CTC, MCC, as the new president of the National Association of Commissioned Travel Agents (NACTA). Koepf will start his new position on April 1, 2008. Previously, Koepf was vice president of strategic business units for Sabre Holdings, Inc.
“Scott was the ideal candidate to take over NACTA's operations. His experience in all aspects of the industry and his commitment to travel agents will be an asset to NACTA as it moves forward," said Bill Maloney, CTC, ASTA executive vice president and COO. “ASTA is committed to expanding NACTA and the many benefits members receive, such as the recently announced Virtual Cruise Night and Virtual Travel Sale. In hiring Scott, we are hiring a strong leader who can take the association to the next level of growth and profitability."
“Travel is in my blood and helping travel agents succeed is my passion," said Koepf. “I see my new role as NACTA president to defend and support the home-based agents' position and needs within the industry. NACTA is the industry leader because of commitment. I plan to continue where Joanie Ogg left off, and make sure NACTA is not only the best association for home-based agents but one that helps agents in multiple ways to become more successful in this business."
Prior to joining Sabre Holdings, where he acted as general manager for both Nexion, a host travel agency with more than $200 million in annual sales, and Jurni, a travel agency consortium, Koepf was president and owner of Ultimate Seminars, providing motivational and educational programs for travel and franchising, among other industries. Through Ultimate Seminars, Koepf produced the Ultimate Cruise Sales Seminar exclusively for Princess Cruises.
Koepf got his start in the travel agency business when he became the owner and manager of Cruise Holidays of Anaheim. Several years later, he went on to join Cruise Holidays International, Inc., where he held a variety of executive level positions. While there he grew the franchise chain from $10 million to more than $100 million in annual sales and increased the number of locations from 12 to more than 150, making it one of the top franchise opportunities in the country.
NACTA is the travel industry's leading national trade association representing independent contractors, outside sales agents, cruise and tour oriented agents, group oriented travel professionals and traditional ARC-appointed travel agencies that provide services and support to such professionals. Established in 1986, NACTA's mission is to represent the interest of independent travel entrepreneurs and to promote professionalism and recognition for the professional independent agent. NACTA is an affiliate of ASTA, the American Society of Travel Agents, the world's largest travel trade association.
The mission of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) is to facilitate the business of selling travel through effective representation, shared knowledge and the enhancement of professionalism. ASTA seeks a retail travel marketplace that is profitable and growing and a rewarding field in which to work, invest and do business.
