Reunion Tourism – keeping quality at the center of it ( Quality is a key element when visitors at the end of a vacation conclude if they want to come back and just how much they enjoyed it. On Reunion Island, quality control has become an institution, cognizant of the fact that bad apples spoil the visitor experience and give the destination a bad name, something the Quality Tourism Charter of Reunion Island seeks to prevent.

More and more service providers have signed up in the past to be inspected by a panel of experts, and then re-audited every three years, to ascertain they have what it takes to be an ambassador of good services for the island.

Elements judged are:

• a warm welcome,

• attentive service,

• an authentic and comfortable experience,

• the original services tailored to visitors’ needs, and

• an available and qualified staff.

In turn, the seal of quality, as shown above, will give visitors the reassurance that their hotel, resort, restaurant, car hire firm, or a provider of tourism-related services is among the elite of Reunion Island’s tourism fraternity and aims to please.

Those who are part of the quality club will have reason to look forward to February 2015 when those participating can win a range of prices including cash, as a reward to have helped create a better image for the island.

With Quality Tourism Reunion Island, the loyalty of participating businesses will be rewarded. Taking part in the big competition “Qualité Tourisme Reunion Island” might in fact win participants more than €9,000 plus:

• hotel accommodation,

• helicopter flights,

• diving excursions,

• rental cars,

• and many other surprises.

To participate, members of the quality seal need to:

• collect the ballot participation on the flyer, or in labeled providers;

• buy and consume 3 labeled benefit “Qualité Tourisme Reunion" in the 6 sectors listed activities;

• ridges affix the stamp 3 providers in dedicated boxes; and

• drop your ballot completed in the box provided for this purpose in the premises of the IRT, 4 Rue Jules Thirel Savanna 97460 St. Paul, where to send mail to the same address, indicating on the envelope “Game QTIR."

Visitors no doubt can brace for yet better services as more companies queue up to be audited and become part of this quality-enhancing scheme, from which many other destinations could take a leaf from.

Meanwhile, it was also learned that key staff and travel agents of Pangaea Voyages recently traveled by Corsair to Reunion for a familiarization tour to sample a range of resorts and attractions and become better brand ambassadors for the island.

The group went on to discover the west coast and the seaside area of Hermitage, rode the waves in transparent kayaks in the lagoon, and had an excursion to the volcano. They also paid a visit to the City of the Volcano and sampled the Saga du Rhum, hiked to the Roche Wonderful Circus, flew on a helicopter, visited a vanilla plantation, walked among the locals to discover the Creole houses of Salazie, and finally, observed the of Mafate from the panoramic views of the Piton Maido. With such a diversity of activities, the group was able to experiment with different hotel establishments located throughout the island: Les Filaos, The Reef, The Geraniums, Le Vieux Cep, and the Lux Reunion.

More such tours are planned for 2015, as Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) continues their marketing offensive into the next year.
