Reunion Island Tourism meets 160 international ambassadors (Forimmediaterelease.net) On Monday, December 8, 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the annual meeting of International Ambassadors based in France. On this occasion, two French regions were honored: Reunion Island and Brittany.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Laurent Fabius, met at the Quai d'Orsay in Paris with more than 160 ambassadors - members of the diplomatic corps of their countries present in France. With Reunion Island as the guest of honor, alongside Brittany, a Reunion delegation made the trip in order to promote the island with the gathering of opinion leaders.

The Regional Council of La Reunion, Reunion Island Tourism (IRT), the regional airline Air Austral, and partners in other economic sectors such as industrial rum (Chatel&Isautier) the Agriterre products, Payet company River with its product, and the Galabe, showed the value of the main assets of Reunion Island through its food, its music, Pitons, as well as cirques and ramparts classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. Six young islanders, including four from the hotel school and two Centhor, were loaded with the value of the products of Reunion Island under the guidance of Chef Jean-Claude Cléret. The House of Embroidery Cilaos represented crafts and local expertise recognized worldwide. Musical entertainment was orchestrated by the folk group Lyzéa.

This was an exceptional opportunity offered to Reunion Island promote to the diplomatic corps the attractions of the island. The reception was attended by nearly 800 persons in total who discovered Reunion Island - a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean.

The objective for the destination meeting was achieved, which was to capture the interest of international officials through this promotion action across more than 160 countries.
