Commercial Office of Peru in association with Think Strawberries organizes trade workshop in New Delhi

( The Commercial Office of Peru in association with Think Strawberries conducted a trade workshop in New Delhi recently. The workshop: “Peru: Empire of Hidden Treasures”, was well-attended by the city’s prominent travel trade fraternity who enjoyed the presentation on Peru and the diverse offerings of this beautiful South American nation. The workshop introduced and showcased the beautiful landscape of Peru that the Indian traveler can enjoy. For instance, the majestic Amazon jungle, the Andes Mountain Range, the extraordinary architecture of the capital city Lima, ancient cultures and cities like Caral, the citadel Machu Picchu which is also one of the 7 new wonders of the world, and the city of Cusco that leaves an impression on you for years to come. Essentially, given the striking richness of culture and heritage combined with the scintillating dazzle of the beaches and the highlands alike, Peru is a ‘must-visit' destination on the travel list of any Indian looking for novel experiences.

While the Commercial Office of Peru in New Delhi started its operations in India in March 2014, it has been promoting Peru through various other mediums and campaigns across India which has achieved positive results; as Peru has registered a year-on-year 20% average growth in its visitor arrivals from India. The Commercial Office of Peru is also planning a number of other trade events, workshops and FAM trips in the near future to raise awareness about the destination. Luis Cabello, Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of Peru, India said, “This upward trend in number of Indians visiting Peru, for leisure as well as business, is now firmly established. The changing tastes of the Indian traveler and the developing commercial and investment ties between India and Peru are both factors that will continue to contribute to this upward trend. For the Indian tourist travelling for leisure, Peru is away from what is hackneyed and is towards exploration of the unknown, the untold and t he imaginative. In terms of business travel, aspects like the Free Trade Agreement under consideration between India and Peru will contribute positively to outbound travel from India to Peru. For sure, Peru has to be part of those countries you must visit during your life".

Perú has been nominated by World Travel Awards 2014, considered as “The Oscars of Tourism” as the best culinary destination three times in a row (2012, 2013 and 2014), best cultural destination, and leading heritage destination. Lima was awarded the “Leading City Break Destination” prize. The workshop began with a brief introduction of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Peru, the Peruvian economy and the Commercial Counsellor, Luis M. Cabello, followed by a presentation on “Peru: Empire of Hidden Treasures”.
