Reunion Island Tourism attacked Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg ( The month of November 2014 was the month of Reunion Island in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. Three promotional activities aimed at tourism professionals were held in these priority markets utilizing a tourism development strategy that has been conducted by Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) for several years. Between workshops, events, and a launch of brochures, Reunion Island was a major destination this month.

Although 2014 is almost coming to an end, the meeting destination promotion activities are continuing. This November, the charge of promoting Reunion Island Tourism in Paris Anne-Laure Payet, is party to the meeting of the Belgian, Luxembourg, and Switzerland tourism professionals.

Overseas Belgium

An ultramarine tourism cluster created by Atout France, hosted two professional workshops in Ghent and Brussels (Belgium). On Wednesday, November 19, 2014, Ghent hosted the first session of the ultramarine workshop, which received ten travel agencies. On site, Reunion Island was represented by the IRT, regional airline Air Austral, and Saint Alexis Hotel&Spa - all cluster members, as well as through the presence of the tour operators from Flemish Rainbow, Live to Travel, Travelworld, and Exclusive Destination. The meeting benefited from high visibility and was clearly positioned as a destination pattern, being the only destination to be programmed by all tour operators present that night.

The Belgian capital of Brussels received the second workshop of the ultramarine tourism cluster, which was a great success with twenty invited travel agencies. Many prizes were involved, including a magnificent Reunion Island box containing rum and Bourbon coffee.

These evenings dedicated to overseas destinations allowed Belgian professionals to glean as much information as possible about Reunion Island. They also had the opportunity to make connections with Flemish and Walloon travel agencies.

Luxembourg hosted the first launch party of brochures - Uniclam Belgian tour operator - on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Twenty agencies were invited to attend the presentations of partners Uniclam, the IRT, Air Austral, and hotel group Exsel. The user-friendly presentation took place in an interactive format, where each dish was followed by an intervention.

Reunion Island had to be present for this potential market, particularly with Uniclam, one of the main actors and partners on the Belgian market. The evening was also an opportunity to train and document these Luxembourg travel agents who sell products from German, Belgian, and French tour operators.

FTI Quiz in Western Switzerland

German general tour operator FTI has been present in Switzerland for more than a year. On Wednesday, November 26, seventeen sector travel agencies were invited to one of the most original evenings in Martigny (Switzerland). In the form of questions and answers, this interactive evening was a great success with the tourism professionals that were present. Being the only long-haul destination, Reunion Island was able to play the game with other partners, such as Croatia and Morocco.

The formation of the Swiss travel agents was at the heart of the objectives of the IRT, plus the regular presence of the destination that remains indispensable in Martigny, as well as major cities like Geneva or Lausanne.
