Seychelles delegation receives warm hospitality from the Seychelles Resident Ambassador in Beijing, China

Seychelles delegation receives warm hospitality from the Seychelles Resident Ambassador in Beijing, China ( In Chinese culture, sharing dinner with guests is always a good sign of warmth and hospitality. Philippe Le Gall, the Seychelles Ambassador accredited in China, welcomed to his country of residence in the most respected round-table Chinese dinner tradition, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange; Sherin Naiken, Chief Executive of Seychelles Tourism; Marco Francis, Chairperson of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI); Penny Belmont, Chief Executive of Small Enterprise Promotion Agency (SENPA); destination management companies, tour operators, and hotel representatives in China. The Seychelles delegation was in China for one-to-one meetings with Chinese outbound tour operators and travel agents, and the delegation was also in China to boost Seychelles’ visibility in the region.

At the Grand Millennium Hotel, Ambassador Le Gall highlighted the importance of the emergence of the Chinese tourism market for Seychelles.

“The Seychelles share of the Chinese market is getting bigger, and in five years’ time our main challenge will probably be how to manage these arrival figures,” the Ambassador said.

Minister St.Ange said Seychelles is not targeting mass tourism in China, but projecting a steady growth.

“We want to develop a good tourism market in China. We have set out our targets in visitor arrival numbers from China, and we are working to achieve this target. This is part of the diversifying of market strategy we embarked upon some two years ago,” Minister St.Ange said.

The welcoming dinner was simply a voyage of discovery into Chinese cuisine and sought values associated with its dishes and table etiquette.
