World Arc 2014: International sailing stopover on Reunion Island

World Arc 2014: International sailing stopover on Reunion Island (Forimmediaterelease.net) From October 24 to November 1, 2014, Reunion Island Arc is hosting the International Rally World Arc world sailing event for the fourth year. Organized for the ninth year, this international sailboat rally consists of 21 yachts, which are currently at Port Meeting for the week, giving yacht crews the opportunity to place their feet on Reunion Island.

This event is a real global boat adventure. The World Rally Arc spans over fifteen months and covers 26,000 nautical miles (48,152 kilometers). This prestigious event with 21 boats, mono-hulls, and catamarans between 12 and 18 meters, carries 77 onboard participants from 17 different countries - France, the USA, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Canada, Great Britain, Norway, Australia, Guernsey, and Slovakia - from St. Lucia through the Marquesas, Australia, Bali, and Reunion Island on a world tour. These international luxury yachts will complete their journey in March, 2015.

Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) is once again a sponsor of this event alongside the Tourist Office of the West, the Regional Tourism Federation (FRT), and the City and the Port of Greater Port Maritime De La Reunion (GPMDLR). The dive center hosted the Dodo Palmé browsers on their arrival on Friday, October 24, 2014. An exotic reception was reserved for sailors, who were able to taste Reunion Island’s gastronomy through the menu of Dodo Gourmand while enjoying a local musical tradition performed by the folk troupe Mascarene.

During his speech, the President of the IRT, Patrick Serveaux, recalled that a day excursion by bus was waiting for the seventy participants on Sunday, October 26, 2014, giving them the opportunity to visit the island and meet its people, as well as its natural and cultural heritage. Beyond this day, excursions, activities, and other tourism products may be booked with the FRT for a cruise of a new kind.

For the IRT, the goal is to enable these travelers to discover Reunion Island, so that they become true prescribers of the destination. The call of World Arc to Reunion Island is also a great means of communication, allowing high visibility of the island on the world map. This event, which is closely watched by the world, should build as annual event next year.

The public will have free access to the marina Port to admire the boats from the dock, until Saturday, November 1, 2014, the date the yachts will resume sailing the sea. After Reunion Island, the yachts will head to South Africa where they will spend the festive season in Africa.
