Frankfurt Airport Winter Timetable 2014/2015

Frankfurt Airport Winter Timetable 2014/2015 (Forimmediaterelease.net) FRA’s Global Network serves 98 passenger airlines at 250 destinations in 105 countries. Lufthansa is offering new service to Marrakesh, Qatar Airways will fly its first Airbus A350 on the Frankfurt Route, and airlines are increasingly using modern low-noise aircraft at Frankfurt.

Frankfurt Airport’s new Winter Timetable 2014/2015 – which goes into effect on Sunday, October 26, 2014 (in tandem with the changeover to winter time) and runs until Saturday, March 28, 2015 – will feature 98 passenger airlines flying directly to 250 destinations in 105 countries per week. More than half of the connections flown via Frankfurt Airport (FRA) are located outside of Europe, thus underscoring FRA’s key role as an international hub in the global air transportation system.

Airlines will be expanding the number of seats available via Frankfurt by 2.2 percent to 680,000 seats per week – including 250,000 seats (up 3 percent) available on intercontinental routes. Due to the growing trend toward deployment of larger aircraft types at FRA, the average number of seats offered per aircraft movement will rise by 7 to 177 seats compared to the same period in 2013. As a result, the number of scheduled weekly departures for passenger and cargo aircraft will decline to 4,080 (down 1.8 percent), despite an increase in the total number of seats being offered and despite the cargo timetable (cargo-only flights) remaining unchanged.

Marrakesh (RAK), the third largest city in Morocco, will be one of the new Winter Timetable destinations available directly from FRA (last offered in 2009). Lufthansa will fly twice a week to RAK this winter. A number of destinations already served in the Summer Timetable will also be flown during the winter period. These include Changsha and Guangzhou in China (thrice weekly with China Southern), Jakarta in Indonesia (five times per week with Lufthansa), Fortaleza in Brazil (once weekly with Condor), as well as European destinations such as Lublin in Poland (twice weekly with Lufthansa), Valencia in Spain (daily with Lufthansa), Karlstadt in Sweden (as many as 11 times per week with BMI Regional), and Tirana in Albania (twice weekly with Adria Airways).

Air Europa and Pegasus Airlines – which commenced services at FRA during the Summer Timetable 2014 – will also be flying this winter schedule to Madrid, Spain (twice daily) and Istanbul-Sabiha Gökcen, Turkey (once daily), respectively.

In addition, Lufthansa will carry over into the winter schedule its expanded summer offerings to Tel Aviv, Israel – an increase from 14 to 17 flights per week. Likewise, Austrian Airlines will continue its frequencies from FRA to Vienna, Austria (up from five to six flights daily).

Condor will add Windheok in Namibia, Africa, to its Frankfurt route network, with two flights per week. Onur Air will also start daily services this winter schedule to Istanbul-Atatürk in Turkey. A number of airlines at the Frankfurt global hub will be expanding frequencies on long-haul and European routes. Condor will increase its flights to Cape Town in South Africa from two to three times per week. Similarly, Luanda in Angola will gain another flight with Lufthansa (up from two to three flights per week). Nanjing in China will be served five times weekly by Lufthansa (up from three flights). Frequencies to Muscat in Oman will rise from six to seven flights per week with Oman Air (effective January 1, 2015). St. Petersburg in Russia will also have more flights from FRA, with Rossiya going from five to seven flights per week. Milan-Linate in northern Italy will have even more connections to FRA, with Lufthansa growing its frequencies from 35 to 41 flights per week. Berlin- Tegel in Germany’s capital city will get 10 more Frankfurt connections due to Air Berlin’s frequencies expanding from 35 to 45 per week.

Qatar Airways – launch carrier for the Airbus A350 – recently announced that its first delivery of this new generation jet will be deployed on the Doha to Frankfurt route as of January 2015. Moreover, Frankfurt Airport will be the first international destination (beginning January 2015) to be served by Air China’s new aircraft type, the Boeing 747-8 IntercontinentaI – on the Beijing to FRA route. Already starting in December 2014, Japan Airlines (JAL) will fly the Dreamliner (Boeing 787) between Tokyo and Frankfurt. In addition, Lufthansa will fly to India’s capital Delhi, with the Airbus A380 superjumbo. Fraport AG, the owner and manager of Frankfurt Airport, welcomes the deployment of new generation aircraft, because these are significantly quieter than predecessor models that they replace. Therefore, Fraport is committed to making it financially attractive for airlines to use low-noise aircraft types at FRA. This is being achieved through the airport manager’s innovative and comprehensive charging policy for takeoff and landings – based specifically on the noise-level produced by each aircraft type.

Lufthansa passengers wishing to travel to Frankfurt Airport using Germany’s high-speed ICE (InterCity Express) trains will soon be able to take advantage of new connections under the so-called AIRail service. Beginning December 15, the AIRail service will be available from the cities of Karlsruhe and Kassel to Frankfurt Airport. The AIRail service is an intermodal transportation offering of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Deutsche Bahn AG (German Rail) and Fraport AG (Frankfurt Airport company).
