Green Globe leads sustainable tourism in Aruba

Green Globe leads sustainable tourism in Aruba (Forimmediaterelease.net) LOS ANGELES, California - At AMISTAD’s International Executive Forum: Leading Sustainable Tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean, Green Globe CEO Mr. Guido Bauer today revealed how certification of sustainable tourism underpins the durability of hospitality businesses.

The Aruba Management Institute for Sustainable Tourism and Development (AMISTAD) is a public-private business venture established by Marriott International and the Government of Aruba along with University of Aruba, University of South Carolina and the Hague Hotel Management School.

At AMISTAD’s International Executive Forum, Mr. Bauer defined Green Globe’s role in delivering better outcomes for tourism businesses through the activation of sustainable management practices.

Mr. Bauer said, “I was pleased to share with this esteemed gathering how Green Globe has embedded our International Standard for Sustainable Tourism into the operations of our members’ companies, and then used the ongoing certification process to ensure these management initiatives remain a living and vital part of these companies’ success.

“Green Globe’s sustainable certification program is in demand from all types of businesses including major hotels, resorts and all-inclusives, through to eco-retreats and specialty tour operators.

“The reason for this strong demand is that all responsible tourism operators understand that working towards profitable outcomes for their people, their host community, the environment and their business, all leads to longevity and security,” added Mr. Bauer.

Dr. Ryan R. Peterson, Professor and Innovation Advisor for AMISTAD said, “Who better than Green Globe to partner with the inaugural International Executive Forum: Leading Sustainable Tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean. Their experience and expertise in developing sustainable tourism is invaluable.”

AMISTAD’s International Executive Forum brought together both local and international expertise including Mari Snyder Vice, President for Social Responsibility Marriott International; Dr. Martha Honey, Co-founder/Co-director Center for Responsible Travel (CREST); and Ronella Tjin Asjoe, CEO Aruba Tourism Authority. These contributors, along with other experts, covered topics as diverse as ‘Talent Leadership in Tourism and Hospitality’, ‘Culture, Community and Human Capital in Sustainable Tourism’ and ‘Green Tourism Trends in Latin America and the Caribbean’.
