Château Saint-Martin & Spa celebrates the Biodiversity of Côte d’Azur
Julie Poirot, CSR Co-ordinator at Château Saint Martin&Spa said, “Château Saint Martin&Spa was elected as a Refuge for Biodiversity by the association – Bird Protection League - due to the château’s installation of nest boxes and beehives in its park and for using organic garden products.”
Sustainable ecotourism has become the cornerstone of the hotel’s operations and management objectives. The hotel has built several beehives on the estate and is committed to supporting this project to encourage biodiversity in the region. With the recent decline in honey production in France, building beehives not only aids the preservation of bee colonies in the area but also produces organic honey enjoyed by hotel guests.
The hotel also provides shelter for birds to nest on the estate and other environmental initiatives at Château Saint-Martin&Spa include interactive educational programs for school children to explore the rich flora and fauna in the local surrounds of Vence.
“The property invites children of the region to the hotel’s gardens and grounds to teach them about protecting the environment. They take part in biodiversity workshops organized by the Bird Protection League Association,” added Julie Poirot.
‘French by Nature’ is the motto of Château Saint-Martin&Spa where guests enjoy the tranquil hills around the hotel filled with abundant flora including Pierre de Ronsard roses, lavender and century old olive trees. The Mediterranean waters of the coastal location also provide a variety of seafood. Seasonal local and organic produce inspire dishes served at the hotel’s award winning restaurants.
This year, Le Saint-Martin restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star while Pastry Chef Florent Margaillan earned the title ‘France Champion of Desserts’ in 2010 with his creative desserts. The staff consists of men and women with unique expertise, people who through their consistent efforts and care are devoted to the wellbeing of guests.
