Tourism staff honored for their long years of service to the industry in Seychelles

Tourism staff honored for their long years of service to the industry in Seychelles ( Employees of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and that of the Seychelles Tourism Board who have clocked 10, 20, 25, and 35 years of service were honored and awarded this year, during the Grand Seychelles Ball.

The ball held at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay was the event chosen to mark the start of this year’s Tourism Week, celebrated under the local theme, “Tourism: Our communities’ greatest wealth.” Those who have served 10 years at the Tourism Board are the Manager of PR and News Bureau - United Kingdom and Europe, Lena Hoareau, Regional Manager based in the Pretoria office in South Africa, and Karen Confait the Paris-based Manager. Bernadette Willemin, who is the Director for Europe has clocked 20 years at the Tourism Board.

Selma Magnan and Janny Valentin who presently work at the Tourism Board's headquarters at the ESPACE building, were awarded for having a quarter of a century with the organization.

Marie-Paule Labelle and Louis Desnousse, 2 members of staff of the Tourism Department were also awarded during this glamorous soiree.

Mrs. Labelle is a 25-year awardee while Mr. Desnousse has been recognized for having spent 35 long years in the tourism field.

While these employees have been awarded, honored, and recognized for their hard work and devotion during those decades, tourism magazine, Sesel Sa, celebrated its first anniversary since its launch.

To mark the occasion, Marie-France Watson and Ineke Camille of Sesel Sa magazine joined Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, Principal Secretary for Tourism Anne Lafortune, and Chief Executive of the Tourism Board Sherin Naiken to cut a cake.

As customary at every tourism ball, the “Miss Seychelles…Another World” banner for next year was unveiled, while it was also announced that the present beauty queen, Camila Estico, will crown the next “Miss Seychelles…Another World” on May 21, 2015.

Miss Estico will be representing the beautiful islands of Seychelles at the Miss World 2014 to be held in Glasgow, Scotland, in December.
