AirXperience Day on September 21 presents: “Pit Stop – The World of Formula 1 at Frankfurt Airport”

AirXperience Day on September 21 presents: “Pit Stop – The World of Formula 1 at Frankfurt Airport” ( Fraport AG’s upcoming AirXperience Day on September 21 presents “Pit Stop – The World of Formula 1 at Frankfurt Airport” – an exciting program of events for the entire family focusing on the exciting world of Formula 1 auto racing in tandem with the Singapore Grand Prix running this Sunday. While race drivers are warming up for the Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1, visitors and passengers at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) will be able to make their own “pit stop” in the international atmosphere of Frankfurt Airport. In cooperation with Singapore Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board, Fraport’s AirXperience Day will again include an airport contest with questions and challenges about the airport, Formula 1 racing, and the current Grand Prix in Singapore. Those who get all of the answers right at the different checkpoints could find themselves at next year’s Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore. The first-prize winner and their guest will travel to the 2015 Grand Prix on Singapore Airlines and spend three nights in a four-star hotel in this pulsating metropolis in South East Asia.

At FRA’s AirXperience Day, guests will have an opportunity to sit behind the wheel of a Formula 1 simulator and put their driving skills to the test on the world’s fastest Grand Prix circuits – and get a finish-line photo as a memento. The fastest team will be decided at the tire change pit stop, where dexterity and speed are required. There is also something in store for youngsters, with a Formula 1-style Bobby Car (Germany’s famous sit-on toy car) track and Europe’s largest Carrera slot-car track. The winners of these individual competitions will be awarded attractive prizes and all participants will receive giveaways from Singapore Airlines. As an extra bonus, FRA will present the live broadcast of the main racing event starting at 2:00 p.m. – the spectacular Formula 1 night race in Singapore.

The airport’s many shops and restaurants will also be open on AirXperience Day, offering amble opportunities for browsing, shopping and relaxing. Find out more about FRA’s AirXperience Days here.

Visitors can also round off their Pit Stop at Frankfurt Airport with one of Fraport’s Airport Tours, which can now be booked in advance via the Frankfurt Airport Web site. Please note that the FRA Visitors’ Terrace and the International Food Plaza at Terminal 2 are currently closed for extensive renovation and modernization work until early 2015.

Frankfurt Airport serves as your gateway to Grand Prix races in Germany and around the world, too. Racing fans will be interested in knowing that the Hochenheim track, which is located about an hour’s drive south of FRA near Heidelberg, hosted the 2014 German Grand Prix. Next year, the Nürburgring track, about 120 kilometers northwest of FRA near Koblenz, is scheduled to host Germany’s 2015 Formula 1 race. For more details about Grand Prix racing, visit the official Formula 1 Web site.
