Frankfurt Airport’s Oktoberfest brings cheer and beer, sausages, music and more to the terminals

Frankfurt Airport’s Oktoberfest brings cheer and beer, sausages, music and more to the terminals (Forimmediaterelease.net) When the first keg of festive beer is tapped at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) on September 15, the customarily phrase “o’zapft is” (it’s been tapped) will ring out in the terminals, signaling the start of four weeks of Oktoberfest celebrations.

Passengers and visitors will be able to enjoy authentic Bavarian music played daily by the brass band Bayern Stürmer in Area Z of Terminal 1 and in the non-Schengen area of Terminal 2. On weekends, the band will also be playing in the public marketplaces of Terminal 1. Guests can try traditional Bavarian sports and games such as milk-can throwing, penny pitching, beer-mug lifting and ring tossing – participants joining in will receive a small gift as a souvenir. When hunger calls, friendly pretzel salesgirls wearing traditional Dirndl dresses will never be far away. FRA’s restaurants and bistros will be serving Weisswurst (white sausages) or Leberkäse (sausage loaf) with fresh draft beer, or plum pie with a mug of coffee, among other Bavarian specialties.

Throughout FRA’s brightly decorated marketplaces and malls, stores will feature traditional costumes, beer steins, Oktoberfest shirts, and a wide range of Bavarian souvenirs. Oktoberfest staff wearing Dirndls and Lederhosen will distribute multilingual flyers with coupons that can be redeemed for discounts on selected items at more than 30 shops, restaurants, and cafés.

FRA’s Oktoberfest is part of the ongoing “Great to have you here!” service-quality program launched several years ago by Fraport AG to enhance the travel experience at Germany’s largest aviation hub. Frankfurt Airport welcomed more than 58 million passengers in 2013.
