Seychelles first edition of Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta media campaign hits the airwaves

Seychelles first edition of Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta media campaign hits the airwaves (Forimmediaterelease.net) Seychelles is in full swing with its media campaign to unveil the first edition of the Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta planned for September 5 -7.

Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange; Principal Secretary for Culture Benjamine Rose; and Richard Mathiot, Principal Lecturer of the Seychelles Tourism Board were live on the Seychelles Broadcasting Cooperation air wave to promote the launch of the fiesta.

Minister St.Ange said his ministry had heard the call from Praslin for a festival on Praslin for Praslin.

“It was time we give the people of Praslin an event unique to their Island,” the Minister said.

The Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta is now included as an annual event on the Ministry of Tourism and Culture calendar of events.

Minister St.Ange said Praslin should take ownership of this festival.

“We’ve worked tirelessly to put together this event. It’s important that the people of Praslin are part and parcel of this event and they take ownership of it.”

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture said it will be a spectacular ceremony tailored for Praslin around the theme of Coco de Mer. Minister St.Ange used the airwaves to highlight publicly that the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Praslinois were thinking outside the box when they introduced the use of the dried kernel of the Coco de Mer on the menu for that Saturday of the Fiesta. “We have asked for a couple of kilos of the dried kernel of the Coco de Mer from the one ton our country is exporting to China every year. We felt that it was an opportunity to let that kernel be used for a change in the promotion of Praslin as a unique tourism destination. Using it here is giving value added to the nut Praslin and the Praslinois are producing with all their love," Minister St.Ange said on live radio. The spotlight of the Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta will be the Creole culinary competition at La Domaine de la Reserve.

Richard Mathiot, who is Chairperson Praslin Creole culinary competition, said it is encouraging to see huge participation of hotels in the professional category.

He said for the non-professional category, there is a possibility of extending the deadline set for Friday, August 22, to Tuesday, August 26, for participants to submit their registration forms.

For the professional category, the deadline set is Friday, August 22.

“We’re in search of innovative taste and flavor of Creole cuisine on Praslin. The competitors will have a chance to give their best shot and mesmerize our taste buds.”

Miss Rose on her part said that the Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta should stand out as an event unique for the island.
