The signed MOU will served as the platform for cooperation between the two chambers whereby each can promote trade and economic relations between the two countries, as well as represent the interests of their respective business communities on the basis of mutual benefit.

When he addressed the business delegation present at the gathering, Mr. Francis stressed on the need for both chambers to develop close working link given that Seychelles is part of Africa.

“Seychelles can be a partner in your development, as we are not only strategically located just off the east coast of Africa but also have good legal structures and fiscal incentives to serve as the jumping platform for your investment in Africa.”

He continued by stating that Africa is the future and congratulated IACCI for having realized that.

Mr. Francis further stated in his address: “Being only 4 hours away and with the news that Seychelles and India will potentially benefit from a direct air link if all goes well, will go a long way in boosting trade between our two countries. We are also hopeful there will be positive impact on inbound tourism for Seychelles, and may potentially serve as a new market for potential tourism arrival to consolidate Seychelles tourism arrival figures.”

Both parties have agreed to exchange and disseminate information and publications with regards to trade, knowledge transfer, economic cooperation, trade fairs, exhibitions, policies, economic legislation pertaining to the foreign trade of the two countries and also to encourage and assist their members to cooperate with their counterparts in the form of joint ventures.

While in India, Mr. Francis also had meeting with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry based in New Delhi. Discussions were again centered on possible partnership and cooperation between the two chambers for the benefits of its members.

Mr. Francis considered his meetings in India as being very fruitful and look forward for continuity in the collaboration of both counterparts.
