First international tournament of Tchoukball: Reunion Island vs. China

First international tournament of Tchoukball: Reunion Island vs. China ( The Hermann Brandt trophy will be played for on Reunion Island in the first international tournament of Tchoukball. From August 5-14, 2014, the public can attend four games, with opponents hailing from Reunion Island and China. Beyond the competition, demonstrations between young Chinese and Reunionese are included in the program.

Tchoukball is a sport that emerged in the 1960s, and bears the reflections and researches of Dr. Hermann Brandt. Tchoukball is catching on, especially in Asia, where Taiwan currently holds the title of World Champion.

For Reunion Island Tourism (IRT), this event is an opportunity to develop awareness of the destination in the Chinese market. During the stay of the Chinese Tchoukball team, they will get to enjoy a day trip to discover the volcanic site of Piton de la Fournaise, as well as to the Wild South.

• Friday, August 8, 2014 at 6 pm, at the gym Bras-Panon
• Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 5 pm, in the gymnasium of the Lycée Marie Curie in Sainte-Anne
• Monday, August 11, 2014 at 6 pm, in the gymnasium of Saint-Leu


• Wednesday, August 6 at 9:30 am on the grounds of beach in Saint-Denis near the velodrome
• Thursday, August 7 at 10:30 am in the gym Three Mares Tampon at 14:30 Decathlon at Saint-Pierre
• Friday, August 8 at 9:30 am in the field of Gauloise Bras-Panon
• Saturday, August 9 at 9:30 am on Allane stadium in Saint-Benoît
• Monday, August 11 at 9:30 am with Playa Tower UFOLEP in Saint-Leu in the field of beach next to the police
• Tuesday, August 12 from 930 am at breakers on the beach in Saint-Gilles-les-Bains

Tchoukball: what is it?

This sport is a mix of volleyball, handball, and squash: points are marked by bouncing a ball (like the size and surface a handball) on a trampoline-type framework which is installed at each end of the field so that the opponent cannot catch the ball thereafter.
