Lake House at High Peaks Resort green housekeeping program supports the Mirror Lake Watershed Association

( Guests at the new Lake House at High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid can participate in the ultimate green hospitality program by opting out of daily housekeeping services. In addition to significant reduction in the use of chemicals and their disposal, guests will earn a $5 daily credit which can be applied at the Bar at Lake House, or in Dancing Bears Restaurant at High Peaks Resort. Alternatively, the guest credit may be donated to the Mirror Lake Watershed Association, which works to preserve the pristine beauty of Mirror Lake.

“It is important for all of us who live and work in Lake Placid to help protect and preserve our natural resources,” said Matthew Wheeler, General Manager of Lake House. “So we have found a way for our guests to conserve too, and perhaps even contribute to the preservation of our local surroundings. All you need to do is dial the ‘service at its peak button’ from your in-room telephone, and you can request participation in our easy yet vitally important program.”

“We are honored and grateful to the staff and management of Lake House for coordinating this effort,” adds Bill Billerman, Chairman of the Mirror Lake Watershed Association. “Our objective as the Association is to further the enhancement and protection of the ecology and beauty of Mirror Lake, its shores, and its watershed. This means all funding is geared specifically to maintaining the public and private land which drains into the Lake. We also educate and promote the appropriate use and enjoyment of Mirror Lake to our Association members and the general public. For Lake House to help us with the awareness and education, as well potential donations, we are tremendously grateful for this generosity.”

After an extensive multi-million dollar refurbishment, the 44-room Lake House at High Peaks Resort is an energetic re-interpretation of the classic ’60’s motor lodge. Located on pristine Mirror Lake in Lake Placid, Lake House offers a fresh and edgy take on the classic Adirondack aesthetic, marrying mid-century architecture with whimsical modern design touches and highly personalized service. Guests can take advantage of the prime Lake Placid location to explore myriad recreational activities taking place at the resort, in town, and in the world-famous Lake Placid region, as well as the water sports and recreation at Mirror Lake.

About Mirror Lake Watershed Association (MLWA): The MLWA was formed in 1997 by the LP/NE Water Management Committee to focus on water quality in the Mirror Lake watershed. The Association’s first action was to join the NYS Federation of Lakes Association (FOLA) and begin volunteer water sampling under a program administered by the NYS DEC. Through volunteer efforts and fundraising the MLWA has worked to educate leaders and the public about maintaining the water quality of Mirror Lake, and the continuous measures that can be taken to ensure enjoyable and safe waters. The Mirror Lake Watershed Association incorporated in 2008 as an independent entity with a Board of Directors and three officers. The Association is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and all contributions are tax-deductible.
