Winners of “Seychelles que j’aime” photo contest rewarded ( Winners of the 'Seychelles que j’aime' photo competition on Facebook launched by the Seychelles Tourism Board have been rewarded.

They received their prizes this week during the Tourism Board’s mid-year marketing review meeting held at Savoy Resort and Spa.

First prize winner of the photo contest, Elsa Barallon, received one free ticket to any Air Seychelles destination sponsored by the same airline. Her photo entitled “Catch of the day” got 530 likes in the first 24 hours after it was uploaded.

Maria Morel, whose photos came in second place, won a two-night stay at Constance Ephelia Resort on a half-board basis for two persons. Entitled “Sunset paddle,” the photo which was taken at Beau Vallon got 440 likes.

The third prize which was a two-night stay at Kempinski Resort Seychelles on a half-board basis for two persons went to Hamsaleela Senthilkumar. The “Nature at its best” photo was taken on the beach near the Flycatcher Lodge, La Digue.

The “Seychelles que j’aime” photography competition was launched in March and went on for two months.

It aimed at giving a major boost to the Tourism Board’s social media presence online.

This gives members of the public the chance to like and share photos they prefer, thus greatly increasing engagement and driving traffic to the page.

The panel of judges had the task to select winners weekly, and a selection of four photos were posted on the Tourism Board’s Facebook page from which the general public were allowed to vote by liking the photo that they preferred.

Weekly photos with the most likes were selected for the final draw which took place early in May.

The “Seychelles que j’aime” theme was chosen as it gives those taking part the chance to capture the beauty of Seychelles across a broad spectrum of images.

Among the criteria for the competition, photos had to be submitted in color and must have been of high resolution. A maximum of two photos were allowed to be submitted.

Giving her views on the photo contest, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Tourism Board, Nathalie Didon, said it is a good initiative from the E-Marketing section of the Tourism Board.

“Such competition on our Facebook page is a way for us to stay connected with people. It is also a means to help us identify creativity and increase our bank of images which we can use in the promotional campaigns of our islands internationally and locally as well,” she added.

E-Marketing Manager Vahid Jacob said this is the first in a series of competitions the E-marketing section will launch, with the aim of increasing the content of its image and video library.

“The next will be entitled ‘My Seychelles experience’ and will be a video competition based on YouTube. Those taking part will be given the chance to capture the Seychelles through their own eyes in a short two- to five-minute video, be it hiking, surfing, diving, parachuting, basically anything that makes Seychelles unique in their own view,” he added.

For those looking forward to this competition, it should be launched in the first week of October and will last for about one month.
