Reunion Island paragliders seize the Sooty Falcon challenge in the South African sky

Reunion Island paragliders seize the Sooty Falcon challenge in the South African sky ( South Africa and Reunion Island opposed each other during the Sooty Falcon paragliding championship, which was held in Barberton in Mpumalanga. A Reunion Island team went on site to participate in the challenge with paragliding champion and ambassador for the island of La Reunion Sebastien Coupy, team captain.

To mark a step counting for the South African national championship, a team from Reunion Island moved to participate in the challenge between the two countries. Five innings were completed of seven possible. Honorary Reunion Island Ambassador, Sebastien Coupy, team captain, returned to the island with a smile over their victory over the South Africans!

The Sooty Falcon challenge is an exchange project between Reunion Island and South Africa, and was established by Sebastien Coupy. This competition was created to sustain trade with South African paragliders. These exchanges, which also allow pilots to grow internationally, resulted in the form of a “game in the match."

The meter displayed one set all before the third meeting. The Reunion Island team, holding the last match, handed the trophy at stake in Barberton in Mpumalanga. It is thanks to the regularity of the six pilots throughout the week that they shined in the team standings. With four rounds won of five accruals, Reunion Island gliders left no chance for the South Africans to keep the trophy at home.

Reunion Island continues to lead the challenge with a score of 2 to 1. The next match will be held from October 14-18, 2014 on Reunion Island as part of the Route des Tamarins World Cup. The two teams will confront each other once again. South Africans have heart to come with their big team to try to take the trophy from Reunion.

Sebastien Coupy said: “This Sooty Falcon challenge was a success. It perpetuates trade through paragliding with our friends the South Africans. I am proud to have given my role as an ambassador for an initiative that seems fruitful in terms of promoting Reunion Island."
