Pikes Peak International Hill Climb: 2 Reunion islanders realize their American dream

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb: 2 Reunion islanders realize their American dream ( On Sunday, June 29, 2014, two Reunion islanders took the start of the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race, held in Colorado Springs in the United States. The results were a gold medal for Eric Piscione in the middleweight division and a bronze medal for Fabrice Lambert who competed for the open - a first in the history of the sport of motorcycle riding on Reunion Island!

At the end of June 2014, Reunion Fabrice Lambert, aka the Missile, and Eric Piscione went to the United States to participate in the famous race of the State of Colorado: the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC).

The second oldest race in the United States after Indianapolis, the PPIHC has taken place in Colorado since 1916. This is one of the hill climbs, car and motorcycle, the most prestigious in the world.

On Sunday, June 29, 2014, 65 drivers in 10 categories took to the start of the 92nd edition of PPIHC. The program is a crazy climb that culminates at 4,305 meters with 19.93 kilometers to travel as quickly as possible. On site, Fabrice Lambert and Eric Piscione, regional hillclimb champions, were not left behind in the pack. Riding their Ducati 1198 R and 848 Streetfighter, Fabrice Lambert and Eric Piscione overcame 156 turns leading to the summit of Pikes Peak and won, respectively, the second place in the Open category and first place in the middleweight category of the PPIHC 2014.

At Pikes Peak, Reunion Island contestants followed to the letter the Olympic motto: “Stronger, higher, faster" (Pierre de Coubertin). For them, this race was also an opportunity to raise the flag of Reunion Island throughout the PPIHC, dubbed “the race to the clouds."
