Seychelles Tourism Board welcomes new Paris flight

Seychelles Tourism Board welcomes new Paris flight ( The Seychelles Tourism Board has announced that it welcomes the arrival of the flight to Paris, as it believes it is a step in the right direction to consolidating the European market.

The Tourism Board's Chief Executive Officer, Sherin Naiken, made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon, after welcoming the first Air Seychelles flight in from Paris to Mahe via a stopover in Abu Dhabi.

“It is an opportune time to start the flight to Paris, as we are nearing our peak season. Once allocated with the crucial number of seats, this will help us increase visitor arrivals to the country,” she said.

“France remains our strongest market, and efforts are being made to consolidate it,” added Ms. Naiken.

Present on the flight were the Minister for Home Affairs and Transport, Joel Morgan, and the Chairman of the Seychelles Tourism Board of Directors, Barry Faure, accompanied by Air Seychelles representatives.

Meanwhile as a sign of support for the new flight to Paris, the Tourism Board also sent in a delegation to Paris which included the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Nathalie Didon, and the Director for Marketing, Rose-Marie Hoareau.

Principal Secretary for Tourism, Anne Lafortune, was also in Paris for the event – where she also echoed Ms. Naiken’s feelings of support for the new direct flight.

“We also do not lose sight of the fact that Paris is a major European hub for commercial aviation, and this new flight will allow not only French tourists to avail themselves of this service, but equally travelers from other European destinations,” said Mrs. Lafortune.

“The fact that Air Seychelles will be flying the Creole spirit to such a major destination is also very beneficial for the visibility of Seychelles as a tourist destination and will help to keep us top of mind.

“You will all enjoy the full support of the Seychelles Tourism Board in this important endeavor, and we greatly look forward to working closely with you, one and all, to ensure the success of this venture,” concluded Mrs. Lafortune.

Meanwhile, once the plane landed at the Seychelles International Airport at Pointe Larue, passengers were greeted to the merry sound of Dave Sinon and a series of dances – all representing the typical Seychellois joie de vivre.

Also present to greet the first passengers of the flight were the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange; the CEO of the Tourism Board, Ms. Naiken; Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority CEO, Gilbert Faure; and members of the Tourism Board marketing team.

Over the years, the French market has always been among the strongest for the Tourism Board, and it is expected that the newly-introduced flight will help to consolidate this market as well as increase Seychelles’ visibility as a tourism destination to neighboring markets.
