Seychelles National Assembly hears Minister Alain St.Ange during question time on questions on tourism and on culture in its session of July 1 (Forimmediaterelease.net) Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, was at the National Assembly this July 1 for question time. The session was chaired by the Hon. Patrick Herminie, the Speaker of the Seychelles National Assembly, and Minister St.Ange answered questions tabled by:

- Hon. Sultane Jacqueline, the Elected Member for Port Glaud, on his Ministry's efforts to encourage small business to enter the island's tourism industry;

- Hon. Sylvianne Valmont, the Proportionally Elected Member. on what was being done to encourage active participation to participate in the Vanilla Islands Organization and what benefits could they expect;

- Hon. Dereck Samson, the Elected Member for Anse Royale, on what was being planned to encourage more sale with tourists of local artistic products;

- Hon. Maria Payet-Marie, the Proportionally Elected Member, on what was being done to ensure the preservation, maintenance, and promotion of the island's heritage and how was the ministry encouraging participation of the youth of Seychelles in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, and secondly on what was being done on the creative industries program;

- Hon. Galen Bresson, the elected Member for Bel Ombre, on regulation in place for use of music commercially in Seychelles, secondly on the program to sensitize the country on the new tax incentives of 125% to encourage tourism establishments to contract local musicians for their premises, and thirdly on what is being done to increase the yield from the tourism industry; and

- Hon Maria Payet-Marie, the Proportionally Elected Member, on what was being done on the maintenance and upkeep of nature trails to ensure they remained an attraction for tourists and Seychellois alike.

Minister St.Ange, who was being accompanied at the National Assembly by Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture; Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism; and Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, used this session of question time that was being broadcast live by SBC Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation to clarify many policy issues pertaining to his ministry.
