Louis-Andre Goulay wins double gold medal at European Kyokushin Karate Championships 2014

Louis-Andre Goulay wins double gold medal at European Kyokushin Karate Championships 2014 (Forimmediaterelease.net) From May 10-14, Louis-Andre Goulay participated in the European Kyokushin Karate Championships in Volos, Greece. He joined in the kata (technical demonstration) and kumite (sparring), and is the youngest Honorary Ambassador of Reunion Island. He has won two gold medals on site – a feat that called for “Tiger pei" back in Reunion since the beginning of the week.

There were 368 competitors who competed in kata and kumite in various categories at the 28th European Kyokushin Karate Championships

On site, many countries in the European region competed for victory: Germany, Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, Spain, Estonia, France, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Russia, Tajikistan, the Czech Republic, Tunisia, Turkey, and Reunion Island. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Honorary Reunion Island Ambassador to contribute his influence of the islands during his travels.

After the official ceremony, chaired by the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Kyokushin World Federation (KWF) in the presence of the Greek Minister of KWF Country Representative and International Karate Organization (IKO) of Greece, the youngest started competing in Kata.

Louis-Andre Goulay garnered a fast first gold medal in France, largely dominant in his class to retain his European title won in Poland.

In kumite, Louis-Andre was indeed determined to win. After winning in the playoffs, he fought in a more difficult final facing a fiery Armenian. A Ushiro Geri (direct kick backwards) by Louis-Andre arrived at the head of the Armenian and will hopefully not penalized for this, although the move is forbidden in this age group. This is the final decision on 5-0 Louis-Andre Goulay who doubled his European title for the first time: a lesson in toughness provided by the 11-year-old Reunion champion.
