Press conference prior to opening of the International Tourism Fair of Madagascar highlights regional cooperation (Forimmediaterelease.net) The organizers of the International Tourism Fair of Madagascar called a press conference just before the official opening of their event that appears on the Calendar of Events of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands by President Hery Rajaonarimampianina of Madagascar.

The press conference was addressed by Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture; President Didier Robert, the President of the Regional Council of La Reunion; and Mr. Eric Koller, the President of Madagascar Tourism. The statement delivered before opening the floor for questions was centered on togetherness by the islands of the Indian Ocean for the consolidation of the tourism industry of member states of the Vanilla Islands.

Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles and President Didier Robert of La Reunion both spoke about the necessity of pulling together all the unique selling points of the region in order to continue to position the Vanilla Islands as the new tourism destination. “Our member states today, the islands of the Vanilla Islands, all complement each other and can easily be packaged together in twin- and three-center island holidays. We need to continue to work on air access, as this remains the biggest challenge for the region," said Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and the outgoing President of the Vanilla Islands.

On his part, President Didier Robert, the President of the Regional Council of La Reunion and the newly-elected President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla islands regional organization, said that they now needed to continue on the work done by Minister St.Ange during his term of office as President of the Vanilla islands. “We have to work together to face the challenges of air access we face in our region," said President Didier Robert, the President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla islands.

Madagascar was congratulated for again their organization of the International Tourism Fair, their event that appears on the Calendar of Events of the Vanilla Islands alongside the Seychelles Carnaval International de Victoria (April), the Cultural and Gastronomic Festival of the Comoros (August), and the Festival Liberte Metisse of La Reunion (December).
